Two global companies control the healthcare sector of Peruvian oxygen market

PANDEMIC: A Peruvian Armed Forces plane transported oxygen cylinders from Linde to Iquitos early in May.

OjoPúblico found that two global companies, Linde (Germany) and Air Products (USA) cornered the sale of medicinal oxygen to the Ministry of Health, EsSalud and regional governments in the past few years. Both companies specialize in the industrial gas sector, and are present in the American, European, Asian and African markets. In Peru, they have public contracts with the healthcare sector through five national companies. In the regions most affected by the pandemic, such as the northern coast and the Amazon, the price of oxygen cylinders has increased.
